The official information received from the producer of 'Quynh Doll' is that the film is not banned, it is just temporarily suspended to find a suitable channel and time.

In recent days, the sudden stop of the 18+ TV series 'Quynh Doll' after only 6 episodes has surprised many people. Although VTV did not give any reason for the stop, there have been many speculations that the show was 'banned' because of too many violent scenes and the sensitive topic of prostitution.

'Quynh Doll' likely to air on VTV3

In addition, there are opinions that 'Quynh Doll' was shown on prime time on the political channel (VTV1) at a time slot where many audiences (including children) watch, so VTV received opinions to make the decision to temporarily stop broadcasting the film.

The film was stopped, leaving the actors extremely confused.

It can be said that in the history of Vietnamese television dramas, there has never been a drama that stopped airing suddenly and received mixed reactions like 'Quynh Doll'.

Besides the opinion that the film should be stopped because of too many violent scenes and inappropriate content to find a more suitable channel, most of the audience expressed regret that 'Quynh Doll' was stopped so suddenly when it was attractive.

Many viewers also continuously asked the admin of the fanpage 'Quynh Doll' as well as the actors participating in the film such as Thu Quynh, Phuong Oanh, Thanh Huong... when the film would be shown again, proving that 'Quynh Doll' is really getting attention.

The producer confirmed that the information about banning the screening of 'Quynh Doll' is incorrect. According to VietNamNet's own source, 'Quynh Doll' will likely be shown again on another channel at a later time slot (10pm) when the currently showing films have ended.

At the time the 6 episodes of 'Quynh Doll' were aired, although it was shown during the World Cup, it was still a very hot topic, reaching a rating of 6-7%, second only to football.

Therefore, if the show returns to the right channel after the World Cup, it is predicted to have a rating as high as 'The Judge' (over 10%) and it is not unlikely that the station will earn billions of dong per episode.

Stop broadcasting but continue filming

Even after the decision to stop broadcasting 'Quynh Doll' was announced a week ago, the film crew continuously shared images of continuing to film the final scenes in Hanoi, making many people hope that 'Quynh Doll' is waiting for the time to return.

Director Mai Hong Phong told VietNamNet on July 13 that the film crew was still completing the final scenes. The director admitted that the crew's mentality was affected by the news of the film being stopped, but no one gave up.

The film crew continued filming when the show was suspended.

He confided: "As an artist who makes films, in addition to love for the profession, passion, and salary, we also want our products to reach the audience. In the first days of being shown, we witnessed the audience's response increasing day by day, there were many compliments and criticisms, but we all considered that as motivation to work. Up to today, the film crew continues to film the remaining parts in Quang Binh, no one gave up. There was also some turmoil, the brothers had their own sadness, but everyone believed that the film would soon be broadcast again. The best thing that 'Quynh Doll' created was the audience and the emotions it brought.".

The emotional and mental damage caused by the suspension of 'Quynh Doll' is real. However, it is difficult to measure the economic damage to 'Quynh Doll' because the film has not been banned and there is still hope of it returning to viewers.

Maybe when it airs again, the producer will choose to summarize the content of the 6 episodes that have been shown to broadcast before airing the remaining episodes ('Quynh Doll' is expected to have 30 episodes).

Sharing with VietNamNet, a member of the 'Quynh Doll' creative team said that the 6 episodes that have been broadcast are edgy and a bit shocking because they can reflect the bitterness and cruelty of the situation that pushed Quynh into the devil's den.

In the following episodes, the audience will witness how Quynh escaped from Thien Thai, as well as many thoughtful stories about characters like Lan, My, and Canh.

Tests with audiences and sensitive film topics

To be fair, 'Quynh Doll' is a film that realistically explores pressing social issues, especially sensitive topics such as prostitution and human trafficking that are rarely addressed directly and thoroughly in a feature film. Many scenes may be eye-catching but they reflect a part of the reality of life that 'Quynh Doll' does not want to avoid.

The advertising price in each episode of "Quynh Doll" is quite high.

It's true that 'Quynh Doll' has too many violent scenes, but a movie about the criminal world must show viewers the tricks and horrifying images in that world.

Prostitutes cannot escape this hell because they are beaten, trampled, and mentally traumatized by all means to force them into this work.

In reality, there are many transnational prostitution rings in the world and many girls who have entered cannot escape. And 'Quynh Doll' has accurately reflected a part of this harsh world.

"Quynh Doll" may continue to air in a new time slot.

At the press conference for the movie 'Quynh Doll', director Do Thanh Hai - Director of VFC shared that this is a topic that VFC has been nurturing for 4-5 years to complete.

Meanwhile, the film's director, Meritorious Artist Mai Hong Phong, said he knows this topic is sensitive. If done superficially, it won't be convincing, but if done truthfully, it will be very sensitive.

The audience's demand is always there and if the film is made consistently and does not convince the audience, they will find another channel to watch it. A safe film will not be criticized, but if it avoids the reality of life, the audience will definitely turn their backs.

Therefore, making a good movie that attracts audiences but has many risks compared to a mediocre movie with mediocre content and shown to fill the airwaves is a fierce problem for any producer.
