Prevent wrongful convictions and ensure that no criminals escape justice.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 20th, the People's Court of Nghean province held a conference to summarize its work in 2013 and plan for 2014. Attending the conference were Comrade Bui Ngoc Hoa - Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; and Pham Van Tan - Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.
In 2013, under the guidance and direction of the Supreme People's Court, the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, and the coordination of relevant agencies, the key tasks of the People's Courts at both levels in Nghe An province were effectively implemented. 6,811 cases of all types were received, and 6,606 were resolved, achieving a resolution rate of 97% (the total number of cases received increased by 463 cases, a 7% increase compared to 2012). Of these, the Provincial Court received 750 cases and resolved 735, achieving a resolution rate of 98%; the District Courts received 6,061 cases and resolved 5,871, achieving a resolution rate of 97%.
Based on the achievements, in implementing the tasks for 2014, the Provincial People's Court continues to prioritize the reform of litigation procedures at trials in a substantive manner, ensuring democracy, transparency, and compliance with the law. It aims to accelerate the progress and improve the quality of resolving and adjudicating all types of cases, ensuring that no cases exceed the legally prescribed time limits; resolving and adjudicating criminal cases at a rate of 95% or higher; civil, marriage and family cases at 90% or higher; and commercial, labor, and administrative cases at 87% or higher; ensuring 100% of criminal enforcement decisions are made on time. The goal is to minimize the number of judgments and decisions overturned or amended due to subjective errors by judges; and to prevent wrongful convictions of innocent people and the failure to prosecute criminals. Furthermore, it will strengthen mobile court sessions and improve mediation efforts in resolving civil cases.
