Husband stabs wife to death after refusing to divorce

Refusing to sign the divorce papers, Lam beat and stabbed his wife to death, then tried to stab himself in the stomach but failed.

On November 5, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that they had transferred the entire case file to the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Procuracy, requesting to prosecute the defendant Nguyen Huu Lam (born in 1970, in Yen Tam commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province) for "murder". The victim was the defendant's wife.

According to the investigation documents, because he did not want to sign the divorce papers as requested by his wife, Nguyen Thi V. (born in 1973), in the early morning of July 20, Nguyen Huu Lam and his wife had an argument. Lam beat and stabbed his wife to death. After that, Lam used the knife to stab himself in the stomach in an attempt to commit suicide but failed.

According to Nguyen Yen Nh., daughter of Nguyen Huu Lam and his wife, at the time of the incident, the whole family was sleeping. Lam entered the room and loudly cursed his wife, waking up the whole family: "My father cursed and told her not to sign the divorce papers, then he beat my mother until she bled profusely. After that, my father passed out in a pool of blood."

It is known that before killing his wife, Lam wrote on the wall and signed his name: "I don't have the courage to kill my wife, I borrowed a cup of wine to kill her. Human hearts are limited, I ask for your permission for being unfilial, thank you to the people of Team 7."
