(Baonghean.vn)- In Thach Ngan commune, Con Cuong district, a resettlement area for the Dan Lai ethnic group, including new-style stilt houses, schools, and community houses, is being abandoned.
Ke Tat resettlement area is located on the asphalt road from the center of Thach Ngan commune to Ba Ha village. From afar, it looks like a villa in the middle of clouds and mist. |
This is a resettlement area for the Dan Lai ethnic group from the upper reaches of the Giang River in Mon Son Commune under the Dan Lai Ethnic Conservation Project. The project started in 2011, was behind schedule and was extended by the Provincial People's Committee until December 2013. |
According to the project, 35 stilt houses will be built. It is expected that people will move in early 2014, but so far, only 26 houses have been built, and items such as running water and toilets are still lacking. The relocation of people has not yet been possible. |
The houses are under construction but have not been continued for two years. |
The exposed concrete columns with steel cores stand in the wind and rain. |
Items such as community houses, schools, and cultural houses are built spaciously. |
However, since the completion date, these construction items have not been used for a single day. Bushes have grown wildly around the public works. |
The power grid has also been extended to the resettlement area. |
The reason for the abandoned resettlement area is the lack of capital to complete the clean water system and some other construction items. Meanwhile, Dan Lai people living upstream of Giang River do not want to move to the resettlement area. People of Thach Ngan commune hope that the authorities will soon take measures to properly use this "billion-dollar villa area" in the middle of the forest to avoid waste and limit the degradation of the built works. |
