Western Nghe An region suffers from heat wave of nearly 40 0C
(Baonghean) -For nearly 10 days, people in the western region of Nghe An have had to face a record-breaking heat wave at the beginning of the season. Areas such as Cua Rao, Tuong Duong district, known as the "drying furnace of Indochina", have seen temperatures rise to nearly 40 degrees Celsius in the past two days (May 10-11).oC.
To cope with the heat, many people in the villages of Thach Giam, Luong Minh, Luu Kien, Yen Na, Yen Tinh... gathered together on the banks of the streams to avoid the heat. On May 10 and 11 alone, at Khe Kem waterfall in Pu Mat National Park, hundreds of people flocked here to bathe to avoid the heat.
Mr. Vi Tan Hoi (Vice Chairman of Tuong Duong District People's Committee) said: Due to drought and hot weather, many forests not only in Tuong Duong district but also in other mountainous districts such as Ky Son, Con Cuong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Que Phong... are at high risk of forest fires.
