Encourage 100% of preschool and primary school students to drink school milk
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of September 16, under the chairmanship of comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to give opinions on the draft "Pilot project to expand the school milk program in Nghe An province in the 2016 - 2017 school year".
Attending were representatives of the leaders of the Departments of Education and Training, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Planning and Investment, Finance; and representatives of TH True Milk Joint Stock Company.
According to the assessment, the results of the implementation of the Project "Piloting the school milk program in Nghe An province in the 2015-2016 school year" have all met or exceeded the set targets: the number of participating districts, cities and towns reached 17/21 (the target is to pilot in 3 districts and cities); the number of participating students reached 50% compared to the number of preschool and primary school students in the whole province; the rate of malnutrition among participating students has decreased significantly; the pilot implementation process received high consensus from hamlet committees, authorities and people of all walks of life.

From those results, at the meeting, the relevant parties agreed on the draft "Pilot project to expand the school milk program in Nghe An province in the 2016-2017 school year", according to which the goal is to encourage and mobilize 100% of children in preschool and primary schools in the province to drink milk 5 times/week, 180ml each time and implement 9 months/school year.

The program sponsors 100% of the children from poor households, 50% of the children from near-poor households and 30% of the children from the remaining households. The provincial budget guarantees to support 10% of the total socialized and support costs (in addition to the contribution of parents) but not more than 15 billion VND; the remaining part is supported by milk suppliers and other sponsors.
