Control traffic accidents in coastal areas
(Baonghean) - Recently, traffic accidents have often occurred at night in the coastal communes of Quynh Luu. Many accidents have had very painful consequences; for example, on December 31, 2014, on National Highway 48C in Quynh Ngoc Commune (Quynh Luu), Mr. Dau Ngoc Dung was riding his bicycle in front of his house when a young man from Son Hai Commune riding a motorbike at high speed crashed straight into him, causing his death shortly thereafter. Or on a 3km stretch of road from Quynh Thuan Commune to Son Hai Commune (Quynh Luu), in one night there were 3 quite serious traffic accidents, in which 1 case involved a motorbike recklessly crashing into a car parked on the side of the road, causing 1 death and 2 other cases injuring 3 people.
The problem here is that the roads in coastal areas are often narrow and winding, but most importantly, the traffic awareness of young people in coastal communes is very poor, motorbikes do not meet technical standards, many young people do not even have a driver's license, after returning from sea trips often drink alcohol and beer and when driving motorbikes often speed and recklessly; in addition, the lack of family management means that school-age children freely use motorbikes to participate in traffic... In fact, the Traffic Safety Committee of Quynh Luu district has also directed the district police to increase patrols and handling in coastal communes. However, due to the thin force and the violations mainly occurring at night, the above situation has not been limited and strictly handled...
The Lunar New Year of At Mui is approaching, people in coastal communes of Quynh Luu are very concerned that traffic accidents will increase. Therefore, to reduce traffic accidents in coastal areas, on the one hand, authorities need to increase patrol and inspection forces to prevent and handle violations; including considering the responsibility of vehicle owners; on the other hand, coordinate with localities to consolidate records to conduct mobile trials of some serious traffic safety violations for propaganda and deterrence. Traffic infrastructure management agencies also need to organize surveys of black spots, limit visibility to post signs and accident warnings for traffic participants to know.
In the long term, it is necessary to strengthen the role of organizations, especially the Youth Union, schools and families in educating students, members and children to raise awareness of traffic compliance for young people, including promoting the law's prohibition on drinking alcohol when participating in traffic; Youth Union branches in coastal villages and hamlets need to promote the role of gathering and monitoring, and when possible, invite subjects who often engage in unsafe traffic behavior to the headquarters or to their families for propaganda and reminders.
