(Baonghean) -On the morning of December 6, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the production situation of the 2012 winter crop and deployed the production of the 2013 spring crop in the districts of Do Luong, Yen Thanh, and Dien Chau.

Through inspection, it was found that the above districts had many positive solutions to direct the establishment of winter crop production models with good economic efficiency, such as: vegetables, corn on double-rice land, autumn-winter peanuts. In Do Luong, the delegation directly inspected the production situation in Luu Son commune; with 182 hectares of winter crop production land, the commune directed the restructuring of 160 hectares of vegetables, 10 hectares of third-crop fish, reducing the corn area to 10 hectares, many hamlets converted part of the double-rice land area to grow vegetables, squash, bringing high economic efficiency, earning nearly 5 million VND/sao/crop.

In Yen Thanh district, this year due to land conversion conditions, 16 communes of the district did not restructure winter crop production, so the winter crop area of Yen Thanh only reached over 4,000 hectares, of which corn is 1,600 hectares, vegetables are 800 hectares, and sweet potatoes are 1,200 hectares. Currently, Yen Thanh farmers are harvesting winter crops and cleaning the fields to prepare for the 2013 spring crop. Dien Chau district has done a good job of restructure winter crop production; the whole district has planted over 4,000 hectares of corn, nearly 600 hectares of vegetables and 400 hectares of winter peanuts, which are the source of peanut seeds for the 2013 spring peanut crop. The expected yield of winter peanuts in Dien Chau is 2.6 tons/ha, with an economic value of over 80 million VND/ha/crop.

After the inspection, comrade Dinh Viet Hong reminded localities to continue to take good care of winter crops that have not yet reached the harvest period. Places that have already harvested need to clean the fields, repair the banks and dykes for the 2013 spring crop production. To implement the 2013 spring crop production plan, districts need to proactively assign planning targets to communes, carefully prepare materials, seeds, fertilizers, and ensure irrigation works to serve production according to the crop schedule.
