Checking the progress of the safe vegetable production area project in Vinh city
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 12, 2014, the standing members of the City Party Committee - People's Council and specialized departments of the Vinh City People's Committee inspected the progress of the safe vegetable production project in 3 suburban communes.
With the goal of developing concentrated production areas in the direction of sustainable farming to increase farmers' income and supply clean vegetables to consumers. Recently, Vinh City cooperated with Asia Joint Stock Company to bring vegetable varieties from Japan and Korea such as cabbage, lettuce, chili, carrots, pumpkin to grow seedlings and test control plants according to two methods of growing vegetables traditionally and growing safe vegetables using biotechnology, an area of 1.2 hectares in Hung Dong commune with an investment of 2 billion VND. The results of the method of growing safe vegetables have shown that it is suitable for the climate and soil and the economic efficiency is many times higher than the traditional method.
In addition, this is also an economic development direction that ensures environmental factors, creating jobs for workers with an income of about 10 million VND/sao/year, 3-4 times higher than growing other crops. Along with preparing seed sources, Asia Company also conducts technical training for farmers. When harvesting, the company will purchase all products. Up to this point, the company has coordinated with the commune authorities to guide farmers to prepare the land, plant 20 hectares of safe vegetables in 3 communes of Nghi Kim, Nghi Lien and Nghi An, then will expand the area to exploit the entire land fund in the suburban communes.
Through the actual inspection of the safe vegetable area, comrade Vo Viet Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee - Secretary of the City Party Committee directed a number of issues on planning, financial support, and farming techniques for farmers. The City's specialized departments and enterprises need to connect with households in the production process to consume products to increase people's income as committed.
