Checking the progress of passion fruit planting project planning in Que Phong
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 21, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the working delegation inspected the progress of the master plan for the passion fruit planting project of Nghe An Food Joint Stock Company (Nafoods) in Tri Le commune - Que Phong district.
At the working session, the delegation listened to the District People's Committee report on the results of the passion fruit development project in the period 2010 - 2013, the plan for 2014 - 2015; listened to the Nafoods leader report on the development of passion fruit material areas in Que Phong. Next, the relevant departments and branches gave their opinions on the progress of planning the area of land for growing passion fruit according to Decision No. 1768/QD-UBND dated May 13, 2013 of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee. Accordingly, the planned area for growing passion fruit is 900 hectares in the three communes of Tri Le, Nam Giai and Nam Nhoong.

However, since its approval, Nghe An Food Joint Stock Company has encountered many difficulties and obstacles because some of the forest land area currently belongs to Pu Hoat Nature Reserve, the rest is communal land in the people. Therefore, implementing the approved plan is very difficult.

After listening to the reports and opinions of the relevant parties, Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee concluded: Requesting Nafoods to complete the investment project in the area; requesting the District People's Committee, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and communes to review and readjust the planned area for growing passion fruit. In addition, to create favorable conditions for the relevant parties, he requested Nghe An Food Joint Stock Company to have a joint venture project, collaborating with the people to create a sustainable model. Difficulties and shortcomings in the implementation process according to the approved plan will be presented to the upcoming Provincial People's Council meeting for more appropriate adjustments.
Before the working session, the delegation visited the nursery and some passion fruit growing areas; the planned area for project expansion in 2014 and the following years. Since 2010, Nghe An Food Joint Stock Company has introduced passion fruit trees for experimental planting in Yen Son village, Tri Le commune. By the end of 2013, it had expanded to 28.5 hectares in 3 communes: Tri Le, Nam Giai and Nam Nhoong. In general, the productivity and quality of passion fruit trees are relatively stable, the price is reasonable; the average income is from 350 to 400 million VND/ha, after deducting expenses, each lemon tree brings in an income of 600 to 800 thousand VND. With that economic efficiency, passion fruit is identified as a key crop in the work of sustainable hunger eradication and poverty reduction for Tri Le commune in particular and for Que Phong district in general according to the target set out in Resolution 30a of the Government.
