Inspect and punish 8 fishing boat owners who violated procedures when fishing at sea
During the 4 days from September 24 to 27, the interdisciplinary delegation of Nghe An province continued to patrol the coast to inspect fishing procedures for fishing vessels in the province's managed waters.
After 4 days of carrying out the mission, the delegation inspected 19 fishing vessels, including 13 fishing vessels subject to the "3 no" (no registration, no inspection and no certificate of technical safety of fishing vessels) including Nghi Thiet 5 vessels, Nghi Quang 4 vessels and Quynh Long 4 vessels; 6 vessels under other management.

Based on the comparison with the provisions of the law, the delegation drew up a record to handle 8 fishing boat owners, of which 5 fishing boats were "3 no's" including 3 boats violating regulations on not marking fishing boats properly, each boat was fined 750 thousand VND; 1 boat owner was fined 400 thousand VND for not carrying identification papers when fishing; 1 fishing boat owner was fined 7 million VND for not registering fishing boats.

For other types of vessels, 3 vessels were handled, of which 1 vessel owner was fined 7.5 million VND for not keeping a fishing log; 1 vessel owner without a captain's license was fined 4 million VND; 1 vessel did not carry a fishing vessel technical safety certificate and personal identification papers was fined 1.15 million VND. In total, during this inspection, the interdisciplinary team fined 8/19 inspected fishing vessels with a total amount of 22.3 million VND.

Mr. Tran Chau Thanh - Head of Nghe An Fisheries Inspection and Control Department, Head of the inspection team said: compared to previous inspections, because the province has mobilized forces to urge the licensing of "3 no" vessels, this time the team focused on checking the paperwork and procedures of fishing vessels at sea. The Provincial People's Committee has directed and created conditions for fishermen and ship owners to re-declare paperwork and procedures for fishing vessels, so if any vessel is found to not comply with the procedures, a record will be made and a fine will be imposed according to regulations. In addition, the team also proactively changed the time of fishing vessel inspection according to the actual fishing time of fishermen in coastal waters, instead of checking according to administrative time as before./.
