Strengthening loan groups, increasing credit growth for poor households

(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of July 10, the Board of Directors of the Social Policy Bank of Nghe An province held its 35th meeting to evaluate the policy credit situation in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the third quarter of 2013.

Comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Board of Representatives of the Provincial Social Policy Bank, chaired the meeting.

By June 30, 2013, the total capital managed by the Branch reached 6,038 billion VND, an increase of 314 billion VND compared to December 31, 2012. Loan turnover in the second quarter reached 686 billion VND, 2.6 times higher than the first quarter. Loan turnover in the first 6 months of the year reached 952 billion VND, equal to 130% compared to 2012. In which, some credit programs achieved large loan turnover such as loans for poor households 423 billion VND, student program 201 billion VND, loans for near-poor households 144 billion VND... Debt collection turnover reached 436 billion VND, 2 times higher than the first quarter turnover. By June 30, 2013, the total outstanding debt of the Branch reached 6,028 billion VND, an increase of 304 billion VND compared to the beginning of the year, a growth rate of 5.3%.

In the process of implementing policy credit programs in the area, the Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch closely coordinated with entrusted organizations including the Women's Union, Veterans' Association, Farmers' Association, Youth Union at all levels, along with over 2,500 savings and loan groups operating in the whole province, actively evaluated, provided loans to the right subjects, used loans for the right purposes, and limited the occurrence of overdue debts. In the first 6 months of the year, despite difficult economic conditions, most of the borrowers were poor households, but the debt collection and settlement of due debts of the entire Branch still achieved good results, the debt recovered was 648 billion VND/512 billion VND of total due debts.

Tasks for the third quarter, comrade Thai Van Hang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed: continue to collect and handle 276 billion VND of debt due in the third quarter. Strengthen coordination with member organizations of the Board of Directors to perfect savings and loan groups, strive to complete 100% of the plan; Increase credit growth for poor and near-poor households; Manage grassroots activities on capital sources, and perform well social security work in the area. Organizations receiving entrustment need to strengthen direction for all levels of the association to do well in entrustment work, to ensure safe and effective credit quality...
