"US President Donald Trump has received a letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The main purpose of the letter is to propose holding the next summit between the two leaders. We are discussing that meeting,"Reutersquoted White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said yesterday.

Spokesperson Sanders revealed that Kim Jong-un expressed his commitment to focusing on efforts to denuclearize the Korean peninsula, affirming that the content of the letter was "very warm and positive".

Earlier in August, a US official familiar with North Korea's thinking said a recent exchange of letters between Trump and Kim Jong-un was a positive sign for a second summit, revealing the meeting would take place "later this year" although a specific date and location had not been determined.

North Korean leader and US President recently had good comments for each other, in contrast to the previous tense atmosphere related to the two sides' lack of progress in denuclearization negotiations.
