North Korea's state news agency (KCNA) said today that leader Kim Jong-un received a personal letter from US President Donald Trump and was "satisfied with its excellent content".

"Kim Jong-un highly appreciated President Trump's political vision and extraordinary courage and said he would seriously think about the interesting content," KCNA added, without revealing details of the letter's content.

Nuclear talks between Washington and Pyongyang have stalled after the second Trump-Kim summit in Hanoi in February ended without a deal. However, the two leaders still insist they have an excellent relationship.

Trump also said on June 11 that he had received another "nice letter" from Kim, and expressed confidence in the possibility of holding a third US-North Korea summit. "The summit can take place, but I want to hold it in the more distant future," the White House owner said.

Kim's letter to Trump came after he hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping for a state visit to North Korea on June 20-21. Beijing said the visit was aimed at promoting peace on the Korean peninsula and strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Analysts said Xi's move was also intended to warn Trump about Beijing's influence on Pyongyang before the US and Chinese leaders are expected to meet at the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan, next week.
