Import and export turnover through Lao Cai border gate increased by nearly 60%

According to information from the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch, import-export turnover in the first 5 months of this year reached 219 million USD, up 59% over the same period. Currently, there are nearly 200 trucks transporting goods between Vietnam and China every day.

The main export items are still agricultural products such as rice, fresh cassava, watermelon and some other agricultural and forestry products. The value of export items reached 89.6 million USD, up 98.2%. Import items include: coke, fertilizer, machinery and equipment and chemicals. The import turnover value reached 129.8 million USD, up 52.1% over the same period last year. Rice exports in the first 5 months of the year alone were about 157 thousand tons, estimated at 96 million USD.
