Perilla cures colds and aches

OreganoAlso known as Khương giới (scientific name: Elsholtzia cristata) is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. Kinh giới has a square, straight stem, about 30 - 50 cm high. The flowers are small, light purple, and grow in clusters at the ends of the branches. Kinh giới is both a spice and a medicinal plant. When the Kinh giới plant begins to bloom, uproot the whole plant, cut off the roots, and dry it in the sun or with a dryer.

How to use: Use 10 - 16g (dried) or 30g fresh plant per day. Decoction, infusion, sometimes crushed and used fresh.

Some medicinal uses of oregano:

- Cure fever, headache, body aches: Perilla (12g) combined with kudzu root (24g), decoct and drink.

- Cure pain in the bones:Fresh perilla (young branches, leaves) 50g. Fresh ginger (10g), wash both, crush and squeeze out the juice for the patient to drink, drink twice a day, rub the medicine residue along the spine from top to bottom.

- Cure colds, fever, headache, body aches and no sweat:Perilla flower (flowers, branches, leaves) 20g. Boil and drink once while the medicine is still hot.

- Treatment of rash:Perilla, mulberry leaves, each 6g; mint leaves, honeysuckle, and gotu kola, each 4g; decoct and drink one dose per day.

- Treat breast swelling and acne: Perilla, Xanthium fruit, Heliotropium, Forsythia, each 12g; honeysuckle, Cyperus rotundus, Desmodium styracifolium, each 10g; dandelion 8g. Boil all and drink twice a day.

-Treatment of flu, fever, aches and pains:5g of Vietnamese balm combined with 3g of perilla leaves, 3g of licorice, 3g of Bupleurum or Chrysanthemum, 4g of honeysuckle, 2g of Atractylodes Rhizome, 3 slices of ginger. Boil all with 200ml of water until 50ml remains, drink once a day; combine 50g of fresh Vietnamese balm leaves, crush with 10g of raw ginger, wrap in clean cloth, and hit along the spine.

- Cure cough, loss of voice: Perilla, mulberry leaves, mulberry bark, rehmannia root bark, each 12g; perilla, processed pinellia, each 8g; dried tangerine peel 4g. Boil and drink one dose per day.

- Treating colds in children:Vietnamese balm, perilla, Chinese clematis, mugwort, plantago, ginger, each 3-4g, boil in water and drink during the day.

- Treats dizziness, vertigo, stuffy nose, red eyes: Perilla, chrysanthemum, Ligusticum wallichii, licorice, angelica, saposhnikovia, ginger, cyperus, asarum, and white silkworm. Each ingredient has equal amounts, crushed and sifted into a fine powder. Take 2-3 times a day, 4-6g each time with warm water, after meals.

- Treat prickly heat, rash, acne:Fresh perilla leaves can be used to make water to drink and bathe in every day.
