Remedies using perilla

Cold treatment:perilla flowers, shiso, basil, mugwort, patchouli. Use equal amounts of herbs, use decoction many times, combine the decoctions, concentrate into pills the size of corn kernels. When you have a cold, take about 7-8 of these pills. Use bamboo leaf water to take the medicine. Children only take 2-4 pills.
The above pill can be used to treat dysentery (use decoction of hairy apricot tree to make medicine).

Flu treatment:Perilla, bamboo leaves, chrysanthemum, mint, perilla, and rehmannia root, each 20g; chrysanthemum, and rehmannia root, each 5g; dry, grind into powder, and sift. Take 2-3 times a day, 4-6g each time.


Treatment of cold, fear of cold, body aches, no sweat:12g of perilla, 12g of saposhnikovia, 12g of perilla leaves. Boil and drink while still warm.

Treatment of fever, headache, body aches:Whole perilla (use branches and leaves no longer than 40cm from the tip) 12g, kudzu root 24g, decoct to drink.

Treatment of flu, fever, body aches:12g whole perilla, 8g perilla leaves, 8g licorice, 8g Bupleurum or Chrysanthemum, 6g honeysuckle, 4g Atractylodes Rhizome, 3 slices of ginger. Boil with 400ml of water until 100ml remains, divide into 2 doses to drink during the day. Combine 50g fresh perilla leaves, crush with 10g raw ginger, wrap in clean cloth, and hit along the spine. If done correctly, the body will sweat, reduce fever and relieve pain immediately.

Treatment of neck and shoulder nerve pain due to cold:16g of Vietnamese balm, 20g of Chinese clematis root, 20g of mugwort, 16g of processed fo-ti, 6g of asarum, 10g of cinnamon, and 10g of ginger. Boil and drink 1 dose per day.

Treatment of hemoptysis, nosebleeds, hematuria:Burn the remaining herb, grind it. Take 8g 2-3 times a day with water.

Treatment of rash:Perilla, mulberry leaves, each 6g; mint leaves, honeysuckle, and Houttuynia cordata, each 4g; decoct and drink.

Treatment of measles, rheumatism, and colds caused by wind-heat:8g of perilla, 16g of honeysuckle, 16g of forsythia, 20g of green wormwood, 20g of indigo root, 4g of mint. Boil and drink.

Treatment of allergic rhinitis:16g of Vietnamese balm, 16g of roasted Xanthium fruit, 16g of Chinese skullcap, 20g of dandelion, 10g of angelica root, 10g of Ligusticum wallichii, 12g of Platycodon grandiflorum, 16g of perilla, 10g of licorice. Boil and drink 1 dose per day.

Treatment of hematuria:Perilla and cardamom, equal amounts, dry and grind into powder. Take 9g each time, with sticky rice water, 3 times a day.

Treatment of postpartum hemorrhage:16g black-roasted perilla flowers, 16g black-roasted hook leaves, 20g black-roasted eclipta prostrata, 20g dried rehmannia glutinosa, 8g grilled ginger. Boil and drink 1 dose per day.

Treatment of hemorrhage, nosebleeds:15g black-roasted perilla, 200ml water, boil down to 100ml, drink 2-3 times.

Prevent prickly heat, rash, acne:Fresh whole oregano, boil water to drink and bathe daily.

Treatment of itchy skin caused by blood heat:16g of Vietnamese balm, 12g of honeysuckle, 20g of Indian pennywort, 20g of Polyscias fruticosa leaves, 10g of Gardenia fruit. Boil and drink 1 dose per day.

Treatment of wind-heat urticaria (all over the body, itching in episodes, hot skin, red urine, constipation):16g of Vietnamese balm, 20g of honeysuckle, 16g of dried cassia, 12g of Xanthium fruit, 16g of Phellodendron bark, 12g of Gardenia fruit, 10g of Bupleurum, 8g of Chinese clematis bark, 10g of licorice. Boil and drink 1 dose per day.

Macrobiotic

In addition to using it as a decoction, perilla can also be used as a very effective medicinal dish.

Perilla porridge: 1 handful of perilla (including young leaves and stems), half the amount of mint, 80g of beans (crushed), 100g of brown rice. Boil to get the water, discard the residue, cook the water with rice and beans into porridge, when the porridge is cooked, add a little vinegar and salt, eat when hungry. Used for the elderly with numb limbs or sequelae of hemiplegia.

Porridge with perilla and saposhnikovia: 10g perilla, 12g saposhnikovia, 6g mint, 8g fermented bean curd. Boil to get the water and discard the residue. Cook 80g rice into porridge. When the porridge is ready, add the medicinal water and white sugar in appropriate amounts; boil evenly. Used for cases of exogenous cold, fear of wind, and headache.

In addition to the stem and leaves of the perilla plant, Oriental medicine also uses perilla flowers, with the technical name of perilla wisdom. These are clusters of perilla flowers (flowers that have bloomed, the flowers are still green) with 1-2 top leaves. Perilla flowers are lopsided (the flowers all grow to one side), 6-10cm long, 0.5-0.6cm in diameter, the corolla has mostly fallen off, leaving only the green or light purple calyx, containing dark brown seeds. The texture is light, brittle, easy to break, slightly astringent, spicy and cool, and aromatic. The light purple type, with small stems, large flowers and many flowers is the best type.

Depending on the preparation method, the properties and effects of perilla are specifically expressed as follows:

Perilla fruticosa: has the effect of clearing heat, dispersing blood stasis, detoxifying, and reducing inflammation.

Black-roasted Kinh gioi tue (raw medicinal herbs are roasted over low heat until they are black, but not burned to charcoal) has a hemostatic effect. Used alone, 12g per day, in the form of decoction or powder.

Treat colds, headaches, runny nose: equal amounts of raw perilla and angelica root, dried, ground into powder; drink twice a day, 4-8g each time with hot tea to induce sweating.

Treat colds, flu, fever, headache, sore throat: roast golden perilla leaves, grind into fine powder, take twice a day, 6 - 8g each time.

Treat colds, flu, fever, headache, sore throat: 20g each of perilla and cyperus rotundus, boil in water to drink, then lie down, rest, cover yourself to sweat and you will feel better immediately.

Measles prevention: 20g of fresh perilla, grapefruit peel, and Chinese clematis each, place on red hot coals, and use the smoke to fumigate the whole body for 15 minutes.

Treatment of hemorrhage, menorrhagia: black-roasted perilla, lotus seed (burnt), mugwort (black-roasted), eclipta prostrata (roasted), and polyphylla, each 12g; pennywort 20g; decoct and drink one dose per day.

Treatment of bloody stools: 15 - 20g each of charred perilla leaves and charred thuja leaves, decoct and drink during the day. Use for 3 - 5 days.

Treatment for heavy and persistent menstruation: 12g of black-roasted perilla, 8g of soot, roast until all the smoke is gone; mix well, drink with tea once a day.
