Experience of traveling on April 30 shows that almost every destination is crowded with tourists. Choosing the right location will determine 50% of the success of the trip.

I never choose famous places like Nha Trang, Da Lat, Hoi An, Sa Pa, Ha Giang… because before going, I already know for sure that I will fail miserably. So where should we go during the April 30-May 1 holiday?

If you like to go to the highlands, where the climate is cool and fresh, in the Southern region, besides Da Lat, there is still Bao Loc (in the same Lam Dong province), 180 km from Ho Chi Minh City, much closer. A little further, you should go to Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku or Mang Den of Kon Tum. These places will have very few tourists.

Only those who love nature and want to experience more than just fun and entertainment come here.

If you like to travel to the beach? Skip the names like Phu Quoc, Nam Du, Ly Son, Binh Ba, Da Nang. The reason? Too crowded. The seas in these places are so beautiful, however you should come during the off-peak season. Alternative places could be: Binh Tien area, Hang Rai of Ninh Thuan, Phu Quy island of Binh Thuan, the beautiful and extremely wild sea in Tuy Hoa, Eo Gio, Ky Co of Binh Dinh, Lang Co beach - Hue...

For those who love adventure travel and want to immerse themselves in wild nature, there is no place like Quang Binh with the center of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park. In addition to Son Doong, which is too famous and has its own requirements, other places such as Dark Cave, Tu Lan Cave, and En Cave are much cheaper but are also very majestic and impressive.

On April 30 last year, I also considered many places for my trip, booked and booked, and finally chose Phu Yen. It was great, very few tourists, wide and airy streets, very cheap food, no rip-offs. Room rates were stable and I booked a month in advance.

Travel by motorbike or by bus?

For tourist destinations close to where you live, less than 300 km, I support traveling by motorbike to be proactive and experience more things. However, if the distance is too far, you should choose a bus or other means of transport, then rent a motorbike. Although the cost is a bit higher, in return you save time and protect your health.

As mentioned above, when I went backpacking to Phu Yen on the occasion of April 30, I live in Saigon, to get here I had to travel more than 500 km. I chose the bus: get on the bus at 6pm and arrive in Tuy Hoa at 6am the next day. I booked a room and a car in advance, came here to take a motorbike and go everywhere, very free and comfortable.

How to choose a cheap room?

For backpackers, saving money is also a matter of concern for many people, in which the cost of accommodation accounts for a large part. Can you find a good room, in a central location, at a cheap price? Yes, but it takes a lot of time, effort and requires acumen. First, about 2 months before the departure date, plan your trip and start looking for a room. I often search on online booking websites. This method is fast, the images are intuitive and vivid, with full information about price, location, accompanying services, included and not included. The reviews of previous guests are my main reference channel in deciding whether to book a room or not.

Almost every time I was lucky. In Phu Yen, I booked a hotel in the center of Tuy Hoa city, priced at only 180,000 VND per night. The room was clean, spacious, overlooking the fields and Chop Chai mountain. The staff was very friendly and helped me a lot. Another time I booked a room in Bao Loc, priced at 150,000 VND per night, the price couldn’t be cheaper, but the quality compared to the price was too different.

How to solve the problem of overcharging?

In general, big tourist destinations on the occasion of April 30 also have cases of overcharging tourists, although not much but enough to leave a bad impression. I do not go to places with too many tourists so I rarely fall into this situation. However, if you travel there, you should refer to some of the following things.

Before you go, remember to find out about places that have been reported for overcharging. This is just for reference, because it is very easy to remove that name and replace it with a completely new one. Go to a shop with many local license plates and local people. Many people see a shop with only local license plates, but they do not know that it is all tourists who rent cars to drive themselves.

Find the restaurant's menu, the menu will always include the prices, but restaurants often add the sentence "Prices change over time". This is also an excuse, if the restaurant raises the price, you cannot argue. Save the hotline number of the authorities. If the worst happens, call to report it for timely support.

What to do when amusement parks, entertainment areas, and tourist attractions are overloaded?

On the occasion of April 30, going to Nha Trang, Da Lat, squeezing into places like Lang Biang Mountain is no different than going there to look at each other and then go home, because it is too crowded. But if you want to go too much, you should choose to go a little early, avoid rush hours. Personally, I choose places with less people. In Phu Yen, the most crowded area is still the Ghenh Da Dia area, but I spend more time visiting the surrounding areas such as fishing villages, rice fields, both relaxing and enjoying the fresh air of the countryside.

While everyone was rushing to Mon beach and Mui Dien lighthouse, I drove straight to Vung Ro bay, Ca pass, then took the national highway back to Tuy Hoa, taking photos of the vast rice fields of the Central coastal plain along the way. I balanced my own route and time to avoid any unfortunate incidents that might happen.

Wishing everyone a comfortable and happy 30/4 holiday.
