Timely treatment of 2 children with drug allergies
(Baonghean.vn) -Recently, at the Respiratory Department, Nghe An Children's Hospital, 02 patients suffered anaphylactic shock after being injected with antibiotics. Fortunately, the doctors here were able to provide emergency care in time.
That was the case of patient Nguyen Duc Duong (6 months old, in Nghi Thu ward, Cua Lo town), admitted to the hospital at 3:30 pm on April 16, 2012, diagnosed with laryngotracheobronchitis. After being injected with antibiotics, he experienced anaphylactic shock, cyanosis, respiratory arrest, and stiffness. Doctors promptly administered oxygen and injected drugs, helping the patient return to normal.
Two hours later, another patient, Hoang Anh Quan (1 year old, in Dien Doai commune, Dien Chau district) had pneumonia. After being injected with antibiotics, he also showed signs of cyanosis, respiratory arrest, and stiffness. Fortunately, the doctors were able to save him in time. The next day, the health of these two patients returned to normal.
Drug allergy is considered the most terrible and unexpected accident for patients as well as medical staff. Recently, in our province, there have been a number of such cases, at different levels, including 02 deaths at Yen Thanh District Hospital and Nghi Loc District Hospital.
