The air transport agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the United States was officially signed in 2003 and amended in 2010, which stipulates that the 2003 Agreement will be effective until March 31 of this year.
The amended Agreement consists of two articles, supplementing and amending in a way that does not limit the validity period of the 2003 Agreement. This Agreement will take effect provisionally from April 1 this year and will take official effect upon completion of the exchange of diplomatic notes between the parties confirming that each party has completed the necessary internal procedures for the entry into force of the Agreement.
According to the Ministry of Transport, after coming into effect, the Agreement amending the 2003 Agreement will not only create a legal basis, opening up more opportunities to enhance cooperation in the field of civil aviation between the two countries; especially in the context that Vietnam Airlines is researching to open a direct flight route to the US, but also contribute to promoting bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and the US in the coming time./.
