Signing investment contract for the project to restore and upgrade the irrigation system in North Nghe An

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to sign the decision on the contents of the Project. Accordingly, the project "Restoration and upgrading of the Northern Nghe An irrigation system" has a total investment of 273 million USD (equivalent to 5,705 billion VND), of which the loan capital from JICA is 4,833,410 million VND (accounting for 84.72%), the Central counterpart capital is 500,321 million VND (accounting for 8.77%), and the counterpart capital of Nghe An province is 371,724 million VND.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Duc Phoc and delegates of Nghe An province attended the Project negotiation session in Hanoi.
The objective of the Project is to ensure stable and flexible irrigation for 27,656 hectares of agricultural land, creating a water supply for industry and daily life in the four districts of Do Luong, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh and Quynh Luu; Dredging main drainage axes, upgrading and expanding Dien Thanh sluice to drain water and reduce flooding for about 1,920 hectares of low-lying areas in the two districts of Yen Thanh and Dien Chau. In addition, the project also invests in building a training center in the field of irrigation under the Vietnam Institute of Water Resources, reaching advanced and modern standards on par with countries in the Asian region in Thach Hoa commune, Thach That district, Hanoi.
According to the plan, the Project will be implemented in 7 years (from 2013 to 2019). It is known that the Project was initiated by our province in 2010 and is the project with the fastest negotiation progress ever.
