Disciplinary action against Director of Bao Viet Ben Tre Insurance
The Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption of Ben Tre Province has proposed to the Standing Committee of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee to take criminal action (if deemed necessary) against Mr. Vo Van Hiep, Director of Bao Viet Ben Tre Insurance Company; Ms. Nguyen Thi Tron, Head of the General Department and Mr. Le Tan Dat, Deputy Head of the Accounting Department, or to take administrative action because these individuals have partially remedied the consequences.
The Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption also requested the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to direct relevant agencies to issue a document recommending Bao Viet Insurance Corporation to apply disciplinary measures of dismissal against Mr. Hiep and forced dismissal of Ms. Tron and Mr. Dat.
On the Party side, the Party Inspection Committee of the Business Bloc has decided to discipline Mr. Dat with a reprimand and warn Ms. Tron. Mr. Hiep is waiting for the Provincial Party Standing Committee to give its opinion.
From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Hiep took advantage of his position and authority to take money from the agency for personal use and advance money for business trips, but after settling the accounts, he did not deduct the advance debt but instead appropriated it and asked for fake invoices to receive guests to take State money. The total amount of money appropriated was 171.7 million VND. Mr. Hiep's violations were assisted by Ms. Tron and Mr. Dat.
After being discovered, all three returned part of the illegally appropriated money.
