The commemorative speech read by comrade Phan Dinh Trac at the ceremony reviewed the career and great contributions of the revolutionary predecessor Nguyen Tiem to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party. Comrade Nguyen Tiem was born in 1912, in Duong Lieu village, now Nam Trung commune, Nam Dan district, in a patriotic Confucian family. Born and raised in a rural area rich in traditions of studiousness, patriotism and revolution, with many famous scholars, many heroic figures, representing the bravery and spirit of a heroic nation, witnessing with his own eyes the country in misery, the oppressed and exploited working people, Nguyen Tiem soon nurtured patriotism, determined to follow the revolutionary path to save the people and the country. From a patriotic youth, Nguyen Tiem soon became a revolutionary cadre of the Party.
In June 1930, when he was not yet 18 years old, he was appointed by the Central Branch in Central Vietnam to the provisional Nghe An Provincial Executive Committee. Only 4 months later, he was officially elected as Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee. He was the youngest Provincial Party Committee Secretary and also the first Provincial Party Committee Secretary in the Soviet homeland. In November 1931, he was captured by the enemy while he was in his hospital bed. Sentenced to death, then reduced to hard labor and exiled to Lao Bao prison, brutally tortured and tormented by illness, he passed away at the age of 20. Comrade Nguyen Tiem sacrificed his personal happiness, devoting himself to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party. Although his revolutionary life was short, he soon demonstrated all the noble qualities of a communist, making an extremely important contribution to the growth of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee as well as the revolutionary cause of the entire nation. Comrade Nguyen Tiem's example of steadfast and indomitable fighting and heroic sacrifice for national independence and communist ideals will forever shine for us to learn and follow.
