Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Rum stated that 102 years ago, on June 5, 1911, from Saigon port, the young man full of revolutionary ambition Nguyen Tat Thanh left with a burning desire to find a way to save the country and the nation. He set foot in many countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, America..., to learn about the countries, understand the nature of imperialism, and the suffering of the people in the colonies.
Since the 1920s, he has been propagating Marxist-Leninist theory into the workers' movement and patriotic movement in the country, outlining the correct revolutionary line, directly preparing all aspects to build a Marxist political party in Vietnam. The birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930 with the correct line proposed by him ended the period of crisis and deadlock in the path to national salvation, opened a new revolutionary stage for the nation, brought our country to develop along the path of socialism, our people rose from the status of slaves to become masters of the country, our nation was equal in the international community.
The event of Uncle Ho's departure to find a way to save the country has left a bright mark in the history of the Vietnamese nation, starting a great march of the Vietnamese nation - the journey to gain independence and freedom for the Fatherland, unify the country, and steadily move forward to build socialism.
Ho Chi Minh City is honored to be the place where Uncle Ho left to fulfill the historical mission assigned by the country. Although he has never been welcomed back to visit, in the hearts of every citizen of the city, there is always his image.
Following Uncle Ho's teachings, over the past 38 years, the Party Committee and people of Ho Chi Minh City have always strived to build, protect and develop the city, creating many positive and comprehensive changes, becoming a multi-faceted center of the country, a modern civilized city, worthy of the title of the city named after beloved Uncle Ho - Heroic City.
