Tonight, May 17, at Lang Sen Stadium, Kim Lien Commune, Nam Dan District, Nghe An Province, the 122nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and the opening of Lang Sen Festival 2012 were solemnly celebrated. Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, branches, localities; mass art and sports troupes from 20 districts, cities and towns in the province, along with a large number of local people, domestic tourists and international friends.

Before the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee and participating delegations offered flowers at the Uncle Ho Statue at Ho Chi Minh Square, Vinh City and marched to Uncle Ho's Hometown; offered incense to report to Uncle Ho at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House at Kim Lien relic site; carried Uncle Ho's portraits through the periods from the memorial house to Sen village stadium, Kim Lien commune.

In 1982, with respect, gratitude and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh, a singing movement about Uncle Ho, the Fatherland and the Party was born under the name "Sen Village Singing Festival" - to increasingly express the theme of honoring President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero - the world's outstanding cultural celebrity. The Sen Village Singing Festival was upgraded to "Sen Village Festival" on a national scale since 2003.

From the very beginning, the Sen Village Festival has attracted many classes of people in the country, overseas Vietnamese, and international tourists to participate. The Sen Village Festival has become an indispensable spiritual and cultural activity of the people, a cultural activity of the masses, of the nation with rich content and forms associated with the life and great revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh, associated with the glorious revolutionary career of the Party and the heroic and resilient tradition of the nation.

The opening speech of the 2012 Sen Village Festival presented by comrade Thai Van Nong, Chairman of the Nam Dan District People's Committee, Deputy Organizing Committee of the Festival respectfully reviewed the life, career and great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to the Vietnamese people and affirmed: Celebrating the 122nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and opening the 2012 Sen Village Festival right in his hometown is an opportunity for the Party Committee and people of Nam Dan, Nghe An province in particular and the people of the whole country in general to express their respect and infinite gratitude to Uncle Ho. This is also an opportunity for the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to more deeply recognize their responsibilities, thereby further promoting the spirit of solidarity and unity within the Party and among the people, turning the feelings and pride of each person into specific and practical revolutionary actions, joining hands and hearts to strive to soon develop Nam Dan into a model district, Nghe An province into a prosperous province as Uncle Ho always wished during his lifetime.

This year's Sen Village Festival will take place over 3 days, from May 17-19, with activities such as pilgrimage to Uncle Ho's hometown, procession of Uncle Ho's portrait, offering flowers, incense, and reporting to Uncle Ho at the Kim Lien relic site. The festival will be held with rich cultural activities imbued with traditional folklore such as: Sen Village Singing Festival at provincial and district levels; Volleyball competition of 16 districts and cities in the province; Film screening on the theme of Uncle Ho; Photo exhibition on the theme of the Party, Uncle Ho, Uncle Ho's affection for the homeland, Youth camp.../.
