Celebrating 15 years of the founding of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education (October 2, 1996 - October 2, 2011)
(Baonghean) -This morning, September 30, at the provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, the Nghe An Association for Promotion of Education held a ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Association for Promotion of Education (October 2, 1996 - October 2, 2011).
Attending the event were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Honorary Chairman of the Provincial Education Promotion Fund; To Hong Hai - Member of the Standing Committee - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and provincial departments, branches and sectors.
At the rally, delegates and students of the provincial Ethnic Minority School had the opportunity to review the tradition of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education through its stages of establishment and development. Since its inception, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education has developed rapidly and strongly, becoming a social organization with a wide range of activities throughout the country.
From 1995 to 1999, the Association was only present in 21 provinces and cities, with less than 10,000 members. Now, the Association has developed widely in 100% of provinces, cities, districts, towns, and nearly 100% of communes, wards, and towns; the number of members is approximately 10% of the country's population. The emulation movement to promote learning and talent has taken root at the grassroots level, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, attracting people from all walks of life to participate. On November 1, 2010, the Government issued Decision No. 68/2010/QD-TTg recognizing the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education as a special association, operating nationwide.
In 1998, Nghe An Province's Education Promotion Association was established; immediately after its establishment, 100% of district-level units, 94% of commune-level units, 21% of block-level and clan-level units with 190,000 members participated. Up to now, the Association has maintained and developed its organization in 1,005 district-level and commune-level units; 95% of block-level, agencies and units, nearly 6,000 clan education promotion boards, with over 460,000 members.
With its role and tasks, the Association has actively promoted and mobilized cadres, members and people to participate in the movement "Encouraging learning, encouraging talents, building a learning society", the movement "Tet to encourage learning, month to encourage learning"; built a fund to encourage learning at all levels of the association, the learning promotion committees of agencies, clans, compatriots, etc. Thanks to that, the movement to encourage learning and encourage talents has developed more and more comprehensively. In the past 13 years, the whole province has voted for over 1,700 studious families, nearly 30,000 studious clans. From 2003 to present, the provincial Fund to Encourage Learning has collected over 186 billion VND; awarded thousands of scholarships to poor and excellent students, rewarded tens of thousands of excellent students at all levels, supported teachers in difficult circumstances, and teachers with special achievements.
With its achievements, in 2008, Nghe An Province's Association for the Promotion of Education was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President.
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Education, authorized by the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Education, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented a banner from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Education to the Nghe An Provincial Association for its many achievements in the movement to promote education and talents.
