Commemorating the 184th birth anniversary and 141st death anniversary of the patriotic reformer Nguyen Truong To

(Baonghean) -On the morning of November 20, at Nguyen Truong To High School, Hung Trung Commune, Hung Nguyen District, a ceremony was held to commemorate the 184th birth anniversary and 141st death anniversary of patriotic reformer Nguyen Truong To (November 22, 1871 - November 22, 2012).

Nguyen Truong To was a patriotic Catholic, fervently respected God, and harmoniously fulfilled his duties as a citizen of the country and a follower of God. He was a great thinker and reformer of our country in the late 19th century. Within just 10 years (1862-1871), he continuously sent to the Nguyen Dynasty 58 petitions proposing reforms and modernization of the country in many aspects: politics, economics, education, culture, diplomacy, military, administrative management... with scientific, systematic, practical and dedicated nature, including issues that still have value in both theory and practice.

At the ceremony, the Standing Committee of Hung Nguyen District Party Committee offered incense and flowers at his grave and visited and presented gifts to Nguyen Truong To's relatives, Mr. Dinh Bat Hoang and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bang; the District Police Youth Union presented gifts to 4 students of Nguyen Truong To High School with difficult circumstances who have strived to study well.
