(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of August 22, the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and people of Hung Dung ward solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ward's founding (August 23, 1994 - August 23, 2014).

Hung Dung is a land with a long-standing revolutionary tradition. Here, on April 3, 1930, under the direct leadership of the Vinh Provincial Party Committee, the Yen Dung Thuong Commune Party cell was established at Lang Duc Thanh-Dam Mu Nuoi. During the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement (1930-1931), the cell gathered the masses to demonstrate and distribute leaflets calling for a response to International Labor Day on May 1. In August 1930, the Central Region Party Committee and the Party Committee offices moved to Yen Dung Thuong Commune. In September 1930, Yen Dung Thuong Commune organized a large rally at Dinh Trung demanding that the village chief and local leaders surrender their seals, books, and documents, and at the same time announced the abolition of the old government and the establishment of a Soviet government led by the Party cell, headquartered at Dinh Trung.

During the resistance war against the US, the Red Village (Hung Dung) militia turned this place into a fierce battlefield to fight back against the US air force. It can be said that the feat of the Hung Dung ward militia contributed significantly to the overall feat of the army and people of Vinh City throughout the resistance war against the US. In 1969, the Hung Dung militia was awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces by the Party and State.

On August 23, 1994, Hung Dung commune was honored to receive a Decree from the Prime Minister to establish Hung Dung ward on the basis of Hung Dung commune at that time. This was considered a turning point, an opportunity for Hung Dung to create a breakthrough in the process of construction and development.

The 25th Party Congress of Hung Dung Ward for the 2010-2015 term emphasized a number of basic tasks, on which the Ward People's Committee concretized them into targets and tasks for economic development, education and health care development, and technical infrastructure systems... In general, the economic structure has gradually shifted in the right direction, the economic life of the majority of people has improved, the rate of rich and well-off households is 72%, the poor households are only 0.8%; Budget revenue (regular and irregular) calculated over the past 4 years has reached an annual average of approximately 17 billion VND.

Up to now, 100% of the blocks have cultural houses with an investment value of approximately 1 billion VND, 100% of schools have been built with high-rise buildings and auxiliary works, 99% of internal traffic routes have been concreted, 100% of households have access to the national grid. Many other economic and public welfare projects have a total investment of nearly 50 billion VND, of which the people have contributed about 7 billion VND (excluding land value and working days).

The Party Committee and the government have taken many forms and measures to promote the movement of building cultural families, cultural blocks, and civilized alleys. The annual results are that 88-90% of families are recognized as cultural families; 12/20 blocks have been recognized as cultural blocks. In the field of education and health, 5/7 schools (4 public schools, 1 private school) have met national standards at level I and level II. Primary School 1 alone was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President and a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister. In 2007, the Ward was recognized as meeting national standards in health.

The work of consolidating and building the grassroots political system, including Party building, has always been considered a key task of the Party Committee. For 9 consecutive years, the Party Committee has been recognized by the City Party Committee as a typical and strong Party Committee, and the Ward People's Committee has been ranked excellent for many years.
