Celebrating the 51st anniversary of Nghe An Newspaper's founding and awarding the "Golden Moment" press photo award

(Baonghean.vn) - Today, October 9, Nghe An Newspaper organized a rally to celebrate the 51st anniversary of Nghe An Newspaper's founding (November 10, 1961 - November 10, 2012) and award the first "Golden Moment" photojournalism contest.Attending the event were comrade Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Tran Cong Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; leaders of the Provincial Journalists Association, Nghe An Radio and Television Station; comrade Vu Van Canh - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Photography Magazine and generations of journalists from Nghe An Newspaper.

Before the commemorative rally, the staff and reporters of Nghe An newspaper organized a flower offering ceremony, incense offering, and reporting to Uncle Ho at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House - Kim Lien Relic Site (Nam Dan).

The commemorative speech stated: Over the past 51 years, generations of cadres and reporters of Nghe An Newspaper have continuously strived, shouldered and successfully fulfilled the mission of being the “Voice of the Party, Government and people of Nghe An Province”. Nghe An Newspaper is currently considered one of the top 5 newspapers of 63 local Party newspapers nationwide with a variety of printed and electronic publications.

In particular, in recent years, the staff, reporters and editors of the newspaper have made great efforts, tried, united, and unanimously innovated activities, improved the quality of the newspaper in both content and form; opened many new special pages and columns, closely following the breath of life, increasing the attractiveness and closeness to readers. The Daily publication increased from 4 pages to 6 pages and printed in 4 colors; increased the 7th issue; increased the number of issues to 7 issues/week. The printed newspaper circulation reached approximately 14,000 copies/issue; the number of visits to Nghe An Electronic Newspaper reached over 60,000/day... established additional Weekend-Mountain Area and Distribution-Social Activities departments.

Promoting the results achieved, the staff of Nghe An Newspaper is actively preparing in all aspects to increase the number of daily newspapers to 8 pages by early 2013; publish an additional Sunday issue; comprehensively upgrade Nghe An Electronic Newspaper; renovate the campus, offices, and discipline to strive to achieve the title of cultural unit.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Tran Hong Chau, on behalf of the provincial leaders, acknowledged and praised the outstanding achievements that Nghe An Newspaper has achieved in recent times. Nghe An Newspaper has enhanced its fighting spirit with in-depth articles on pressing issues in life, creating high social impact.

He hoped that the staff and reporters of Nghe An Newspaper would continue to innovate more, improve the quality of publications, increase updated information, build in-depth topics, and rich and attractive columns. Build a team of staff, reporters, and editors in the direction of professionalism, both good at expertise and profession and having professional ethics, political sensitivity, truly "bright heart, pure heart, sharp pen"; improve the ability to discover, closely coordinate with local newspapers and radio stations in orienting public opinion information; closely follow the goals and tasks, continue to affirm the position, role, and brand of the local party newspaper in the new period.

Also on this occasion, the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the first “Golden Moment” photojournalism contest organized by Nghe An Newspaper in collaboration with the Current Events-Arts Photo Club took place. After 10 months of launching with nearly 550 works, groups of works entered the contest in accordance with the rules, the organizing committee selected 11 out of 51 works to enter the final round to award prizes.

Comrade Vu Van Canh - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Photography Magazine presented Ms. Tran Thi Thong - the only survivor of Truong Bon Steel Squad - with the first published photo, taken of the Truong Bon Youth Volunteer Squad's bomb crater filling activity 44 years ago, about 10 days before the Squad was sacrificed.

In which, the first prize belongs to the work "Meeting the benefactor again" by author Tran Huu Nghia (Current Affairs Department - Nghe An Newspaper); 2 second prize works are the photo series "The village on the shoulders of soldiers" by author Tran Hai (Nghe An Newspaper) and "Hunting and trapping storks in Dien Thinh - Dien Trung, Dien Chau" by author Tran Canh Yen (Dien Chau). 3 third prize works include: "The road to Thanh Mai tea material area (Thanh Chuong) is muddy when it rains" by author Phu Huong (Nghe An Newspaper); "Hung Nguyen enters the new crop" by author Xuan Nhuong (Cua Lo); "Worker Dang Thi Binh - Hoang Thi Loan Textile Joint Stock Company" by author Mai Hoa...

At the end of the award ceremony, comrade Pham Thi Hong Toan - Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper launched the 2013 "Golden Moment" photo contest, presenting the first prize winning photo to Ms. Tran Thi Thong - the character in the photo; comrade Vu Van Canh presented the first published photo of photographer Phung Trieu, taken by the 317th Youth Volunteer Company of Nghe An 10 days before her death, to former Youth Volunteer Tran Thi Thong (squad leader of squad 2 of Company 317).
