(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of March 31, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An organized the 53rd Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Fisheries Industry.
On April 1, 1959, Uncle Ho visited cadres and fishermen in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. To commemorate this meaningful visit, in 1995 the Prime Minister decided to make April 1 the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Fisheries Industry.

Celebrating the Industry's Traditional Day
After 53 years, from a few hundred handmade boats, up to now the whole Nghe An province has a fishing fleet of more than 4,000 boats, with a total capacity of more than 283,000 CV. Seafood processing facilities have developed strongly, currently there are 3 joint stock companies, 3 enterprises, 50 private processing facilities... annually processing 4,000 tons of products, 20 million liters of fish sauce... The output of exploited fish has continuously increased, reaching more than 81,000 tons in 2011. The aquaculture area reached 22,500 hectares, of which 2,000 hectares were brackish water farming, the aquaculture output in 2011 reached 39,800 tons, of which more than 8,000 tons were farmed shrimp. The average growth rate in the period 2008 - 2011 reached 9% - 10% per year.
At the ceremony, generations in the industry together reviewed the glorious tradition of the Industry. Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Dinh Viet Hong praised the achievements of the Industry in the past time, he wished the Fisheries Industry to develop further, becoming a key economic sector of the province.
