55th Anniversary of the Opening of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail

(Baonghean.vn)-On October 23, in Vinh City, the Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail Tradition Association of Nghe An province held a meeting to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail (October 23, 1961 - October 23, 2016).

Attending the meeting were representatives of provincial departments and agencies, relatives of martyrs’ families and a large number of veteran members from districts, cities and towns across the province. At the meeting, delegates and veterans reviewed the glorious achievements and traditions of Group 759 (now the 125th Naval Brigade).

On October 23, 1961, in response to the requirements of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Central Military Commission and the General Staff decided to establish Group 759, opening the Ho Chi Minh trail at sea.

With a spirit of intelligence, courage, and not afraid of sacrifice and hardship, the unnumbered train overcame the fierce attacks and blockades of the US Navy and Air Force - puppet to complete the mission of providing human and material support to the Southern battlefield, contributing to the victory in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
