58th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2012)

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, May 6, the Dien Bien Phu Soldiers Liaison Committee in Vinh City held a ceremony to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory. Attending were comrades: Thai Van Hang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Major General Nguyen Phong Phu - Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association and generals and members of the Dien Bien Phu War Veterans Liaison Committee in Vinh City.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Phong Phu affirmed: “You are the ones who inspire the younger generation. Although you are old and weak, “The older you are, the higher your spirit”, thereby, the spirit of the Dien Bien Phu victory will forever remain in the memories of life today”.

Over the past 58 years, since the victory, the Dien Bien Phu war veterans in Vinh city have always been shining examples of patriotism, love for the socialist regime and always have a strong comradely and teammate relationship... for today's and future generations to follow.

Currently, the Dien Bien Phu Soldiers Liaison Committee in Vinh City has 81 comrades, operating in 14 groups (including 3 combined groups). This year, the youngest person is 76 years old, the oldest is 97 years old. Since its establishment (April 8, 2004), the Liaison Committee has organized 8 early spring meetings, 8 times celebrating the victory day, and published 2 valuable books about the Dien Bien Phu campaign...
