In the warm atmosphere of the reunion day, generations of former students from the South recalled memories of their time at the boarding school for Southern students in the North. Exactly 60 years ago, after the Geneva Agreement, implementing the policy of Uncle Ho, the Party Central Committee and the Government, the system of schools for Southern students in the North was established. More than 32,000 children of revolutionary cadres in the South were sent to the North to be raised and trained to serve the cause of liberating, protecting and building the country.
Despite the numerous difficulties caused by the devastation of war, the Party Central Committee, the Government and the education sector have focused all resources on investing in educating generations of students in the South. The people of the North have protected and nurtured the “red seeds” of the Party, the State and the people. Thanks to that, the team of students in the South has matured and become a source of “both red and professional” cadres, making great contributions to the revolution in the South and then to the unified and prosperous Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang affirmed: Time has passed, we have enough grounds to affirm that the Southern student school in the North is one of the most successful educational models of our country's revolutionary education and training. The great and proud achievement of the Southern student schools is that despite extremely difficult circumstances, they still have special educational quality, providing the country with a large number of high-quality cadres. Many brothers and sisters who were educated in the Southern student schools directly participated in the cause of fighting against the US to save the country. Many people heroically sacrificed on the battlefields. When the country was unified, most of the Southern students returned to their homeland, making positive contributions to building their homeland and the Fatherland. Many people became senior leaders of the Party, the State, and localities...
Regardless of their position, the cadres who were raised, taught, and trained in the Southern student school system in the North were all infinitely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, and the people, lived with ideals, sacrificed themselves for a greater cause, respected and were grateful to their teachers, and deeply devoted to the people of the North.
President Truong Tan Sang stated: “The Southern student school model in the North has only existed for more than 20 years, but the achievements and experiences of the school in implementing educational and training goals, teaching and learning methods, implementing the principle of comprehensive education, combining learning with practice, the school is closely linked to society; combining knowledge learning with cultivating students' moral qualities; building a deep teacher-student relationship, competing to teach well and study well are extremely beneficial and need to be inherited and promoted.”
President Truong Tan Sang suggested that the Ministry of Education and Training should carefully study the successes of Southern schools in the North to continue developing the country's education. The President hopes that teachers and former students from the South, with their enthusiasm and experience, will continue to contribute to the country's development./.
