After Vietnam declared independence, the Soviet Union was one of the first countries in the world to recognize Vietnam's independence and sovereignty, contributing to raising Vietnam's position in the international arena and affirming Vietnam's position in global relations.

After 65 years of construction and continuous nurturing, the Vietnam-Russia relationship has become one of the typical friendly, strong and loyal diplomatic relationships in the world, with historical symbols of cooperation such as the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, Vietsovpetro Oil and Gas Enterprise, etc.

Currently, the relationship between the two countries continues to be maintained, strengthened and increasingly deepened, especially in the fields of military-technical cooperation, energy and nuclear energy, scientific research cooperation and cultural exchange.

In terms of politics and diplomacy, the leaders of the two countries regularly pay high-level visits to each other and constantly affirm their determination to bring Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations to new heights, practically serving the interests of the two peoples. Vietnam and the Russian Federation coordinate their positions well at international and regional forums, supporting the expansion and enhancement of each other's position in the international arena.

The Russian Federation attaches importance to Vietnam's position in the Asia-Pacific region and Vietnam highly values the comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation, supporting Russia to continue to have an important voice in international and regional issues.

For his part, Minister Counselor Nguyen Hung, on behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy, affirmed that the Vietnamese people always remember the great and wholehearted assistance that the former Soviet Union and the present-day Russian Federation have given to Vietnam in the cause of resistance for national independence, as well as in the cause of national construction in peacetime.

With the great achievements gained over the past 65 years of relations, Vietnam wishes to continue to coordinate more closely and effectively with the Russian Federation, bringing diplomatic relations closer and economic cooperation more practically and effectively, effectively serving the cause of construction and development of the two countries.

Also at the ceremony, former Soviet experts and diplomats who worked in Vietnam together recalled their memories and memories associated with Vietnam, hoping that today's and future generations will continue to promote the precious traditions in history, wholeheartedly cultivating the everlasting Vietnam-Russia relationship.
