January 13, 2012 16:50

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 12, at the Do Luong District Revolutionary Monument, the District Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, departments, branches, organizations and people of Do Luong District held a ceremony to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Do Luong Mutiny (January 13, 1941 - January 13, 2012).

71 years ago, on the night of January 13, 1941, under the command of Mr. Nguyen Van Cung, soldiers of Cho Rang station rose up to capture Do Luong station and then marched to Vinh to attack the French army to capture the citadel. Because the plan to capture the guard camp was discovered, it failed. Cung's team was captured by the French and executed along with 10 comrades in Vinh on April 24, 1941. Many others were sentenced to hard labor and exiled.

Although the Do Luong mutiny did not win, this event caused a great resonance, signaling the spirit of uprising and national consciousness of many Vietnamese soldiers in the French army in Indochina and encouraging the heroic fighting spirit of our people against the colonial and feudal domination.
