75th Anniversary of Nghe An Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 27, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs held a seminar to celebrate the founding anniversary of the Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2020).

Proud of the journey of building and development
In his opening speech at the seminar, comrade Doan Hong Vu - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs emphasized: 75 years ago, in the proclamation of the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh signed a decree to establish the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Social Relief, the predecessor of today's Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, to carry out the social work tasks of the early revolution.

Right from the first days of the resistance war against French colonialism, the Nghe An Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs launched a movement to increase production to eradicate hunger, mobilizing tens of thousands of young people to join the National Guard, join the Southern army, join the youth volunteer force, join the frontline laborers, transport by cart, river and sea.

At the end of the war, nearly 1.5 million people in Nghe Tinh province who had joined the army, youth volunteers, frontline workers, joined the militia and guerrillas and fought in their homeland were considered and awarded with medals and orders. Thousands of mothers were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, many localities were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. Most localities in the province have built martyrs' cemeteries or memorials. Seriously wounded and sick soldiers, elderly and lonely relatives of martyrs are all cared for in a centralized manner; gratitude activities for those who have contributed are all attended by the great contributions of cadres and workers of the Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs sector.
During the renovation period, the Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs sector has gradually joined hands with departments, branches, sectors and localities to deploy new goals and tasks, while at the same time implementing well the policies for people with meritorious services and social work. Along with that is the policy of vocational training and job creation. The system of vocational training facilities for workers has developed in both scale and quality, with an average of 70,000 people trained annually, raising the rate of trained workers in 2019 to 63%.

Annually creating jobs for over 35,000 workers, of which 13,000 are exported. The poverty rate decreased from 12.1% in 2015 to 4.11% in 2019.Currently, the sector is managing and implementing the regime for nearly 71 thousand wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services to the revolution, paying an average of 120 billion VND per month. Since 1992, it has built more than 8,488 new gratitude houses, repaired and upgraded 14,399 houses, and donated 64,419 savings books with a total amount of more than 195 billion VND.

Speaking at the seminar, comrade Bui Dinh Long affirmed: "Over 75 years of construction and growth, the staff of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs have made many creative efforts to join the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to complete many important goals in socio-economic development, maintain national defense and security, and contribute to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland."
To successfully implement Resolution 26-NQ/TW dated July 30, 2013 of the Politburo set for the province in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs should focus on a number of key tasks:
The sector needs to strengthen propaganda work and raise awareness among all levels, sectors, cadres, party members and people about the strategic social security goals of our Party and State in the current period.

Industry officials need to improve the quality of consulting on the development of mechanisms, policies, programs, and measures to implement the fields of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; Improve the quality of consulting, innovate effective working methods and styles; Develop training, fostering, and guidance plans to improve professional qualifications, public service ethics, and communication skills to meet the requirements of completing assigned tasks well.
