(Baonghean.vn) -On December 5, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province held a ceremony to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the 86th anniversary of Thailand's National Day, and the birthday of the King of Thailand.

Although Nghe An and Thailand do not share a border, they are very close emotionally. Since ancient times, Nghe An people have lived in the northeastern provinces of Thailand. In particular, in the years 1928 - 1929, with the name Thau Chin, Uncle Ho carried out revolutionary activities here. Many Nghe An revolutionaries were also helped and taken care of by the Thai people. Through different historical periods, many Nghe An people have done business, lived and studied in Thailand.
The Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association was established in 2002, currently has 2 branches in Vinh City and Thai Hoa Town. The majority of the Association's members are overseas Vietnamese in Thailand who returned home at the call of Uncle Ho in the period of 1960 - 1964. Over the years, the Association has played a good role as a bridge for the relationship between Nghe An province and Thailand in the fields of economics, trade, culture, sports, tourism, education, etc.; Through partners to introduce to Thai people about the country, people and land of Nghe An; The Association has been awarded a certificate of merit by the Prime Minister, many individuals of the Association have received a commemorative medal from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

Every year, on Uncle Ho's birthday (May 19) and the King of Thailand's birthday, which is also Thailand's National Day (December 5), the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province organizes a celebration with the participation of friendship associations from provinces such as Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Phu Tho, Nam Dinh. This is also an opportunity for members to meet, exchange, encourage and visit each other and recall the difficult but meaningful days in Thailand, and join hands to foster and build the Vietnam - Thailand friendship, especially the relationship between Nghe An and the provinces of Thailand.
