Celebrating the National Day of the Lao PDR and the Kingdom of Thailand

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 1, Vinh University in collaboration with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Nghe An province solemnly held the Ceremony to celebrate the 39th National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 12, 2014) and the 87th National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand (December 5, 1927 - December 5, 2014).

Attending the event were Ms. Xin-kham Phong-xavan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Governor of Vientiane Province, Lao PDR; Mr. The-van Xin-ni-kon - Deputy Governor of Bung Kan Province, Kingdom of Thailand. On the side of Nghe An province, there were Mr. Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the Board of Directors of Vinh University, leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, and Lao and Thai students studying at Vinh University.

Vinh University currently has more than 400 Lao and Thai students studying abroad. To celebrate the national day of the Lao PDR and the Kingdom of Thailand this year, the school organized many cultural, artistic and sports exchange activities for civil servants, public employees and students to celebrate with the international students, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between the people of the countries.

At the ceremony, representatives of Vinh University's Board of Directors and the Nghe An Province Friendship Organizations Union expressed their hope that Lao and Thai students would further clarify their responsibility to study well and train well so that they can contribute to building a rich and beautiful homeland and country, building Vinh University, building eternal solidarity between the Vietnamese and Lao peoples, and a close, friendly and brotherly cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese and Thai peoples.

On this occasion, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations awarded 70 scholarships to 70 Lao and Thai students; the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association awarded certificates of merit to 3 Thai students with good academic and training achievements. Vinh University also summarized and awarded prizes for cultural and sports activities of the students.
