In the recent heat wave, in Ky Son, 2,074 hectares of corn and 3,356 hectares of upland rice failed to germinate. This means that farmers' crops were delayed by nearly a month. Meanwhile, in previous years, at this time, the rice was in the weeding and care stage; the corn had 5-6 leaves.

To help people continue to sow rice and corn, the District People's Committee has recently allocated a budget to support households affected by drought. Mr. Bui Tram - Chairman of the District People's Committee said: based on the statistics of the communes, the District People's Committee will initially allocate a reserve budget to buy corn seeds to support people to continue sowing, while the current rice seeds are being actively cultivated. Although it is late in the season, the district has directed the communes to propagate to people to sow when the weather is favorable, not to go to the fields to sow on the hottest days.
