Ky Son: Prolonged rain, flood water rises quickly
(Baonghean.vn) - During the 3 days of August 7-8-9, in Ky Son district, there was prolonged heavy rain, water from upper Laos and upstream rivers poured in, and the water level of Nam Mo river rose.
According to a quick report from Muong Xen Hydrological Station, the water level of Nam Mo River measured at 2:00 p.m. on August 9 was only over 4 meters, equal to the historical flood peak in 2011. The rain continued, the flood water rose rapidly, traffic on some inter-commune routes was disrupted, many houses along the river banks and the foothills of the mountains were eroded and were in a state of having to be evacuated.
According to forecasts, in the coming days, the rain will continue. The district's Flood and Storm Prevention Steering Committee is directing people to proactively respond to unusual situations of rain and floods.
