(Baonghean.vn) -Entering the beginning of the rainy season, the mountainous district of Ky Son has suffered severe consequences from the rains following storm No. 6. This year's rainy season came earlier, and roads to remote villages were also eroded and blocked more often. People here are worried about the landslide season.
Since storm No. 6, in the mountainous district of Ky Son, there has been continuous heavy to very heavy rain, the water level in the upstream rivers and streams has risen, flash floods have occurred in some places. The early heavy rain of the season has caused serious landslides on many roads in Ky Son. On the Muong Xen - Muong Long road, landslides occurred in villages of Pha Danh and Huoi Tu communes. The only road to the communes of Na Loi, Doc May and Keng Du is divided by ditches running across the road, many places have been "eaten" away by water, leaving only a small path, making it impossible for cars to pass.
The most serious landslide occurred on the border belt road in Keng Du commune. This is a newly completed road and put into use when the rainy season began, the road has turned into a stream after each rain. The entire slope of Huoi Chot mountain has been completely cut off, making it impassable. For nearly a week, the Keng Du commune government has had to mobilize youth union members and people from surrounding villages to clear the road. According to the reporter's records, in just a few more weeks of rain, this slope will be completely flooded, and the Khe Linh border village area will be cut off if the authorities do not take measures to reinforce it soon.
Not only were traffic works severely affected, but the heavy rains at the beginning of the season also completely damaged the billion-dollar clean water works of Huoi Phuon 1 and Huoi Phuon 2 villages in Keng Du commune. Many large iron water pipes were washed away by water and rocks and could not be repaired. For nearly a month, people in the center of Keng Du commune have had no clean water and have had to walk several kilometers to carry water for use. In Keng Du village, many households living along the stream are worried about the rainy season because they fear flash floods.
Some pictures of landslides in Ky Son:
After the first heavy rains of the season, the road from Muong Xen town to Muong Long was eroded in many places.
Many dirt roads are muddy because of stagnant water and have been plowed by trucks.
Many rocks fell from the mountain onto the road, very dangerous for people and vehicles passing by.
The border belt road section in Keng Du commune suffered the most serious landslides.
Some sections of the road were "eaten away" by water, leaving only a small path.
Many motorbikes cannot go through.
The self-flowing clean water system of Keng Du commune was completely damaged by water.
On the afternoon of August 27, the Ky Son district government mobilized forces to reinforce some landslide sections on the Muong Xen - Muong Long road.
