Ky Son is a border of Tan Ky town, with a diverse population structure, including 17 hamlets with 134 self-governing family groups, 1686 households, with 7725 people, of which 69 households are Catholics, accounting for 453 people. There are 4 schools and 1 medical station located in the area. People mainly produce agriculture.

Over the past years, under the leadership of the Party Committee and the government, the Commune Democratic Regulation Implementation Committee has actively propagated and disseminated Ordinance 34/2007 on implementing democratic regulations in communes, wards and towns and Decree 71-ND/CP on implementing democratic regulations in administrative agencies, thereby creating consensus in mobilizing people's internal resources to contribute to building cultural institutions at the grassroots level.

Implementing well Decree 34/2007, the commune leaders have fully publicized 11 things that need to be known to the people such as: revenue and expenditure of all types of funds; contributions to the state, locality, and hamlet; policies on borrowing capital for production, livestock, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, borrowing capital to support students; estimates and final accounts of projects 100% contributed by the people.

People are able to discuss and directly decide on many commune tasks such as: expanding the football field, cultural house, adding population - family - children content to the rural covenant,...; and giving opinions on socio-economic development projects.

Every month, the people's opinions, questions and contributions are summarized and reflected in the People's Council meetings, and after the meetings, the people's opinions are answered in writing. The commune conducts a vote of confidence for key positions elected by the People's Council and People's Council delegates. Thanks to that, some wrongful attitudes towards people's reception by a few officials have been promptly corrected; the quality of the works has been ensured; the implementation of regimes and policies has been objective, timely and in accordance with regulations.

In compliance with Decree 71/ND/CP of the Government, heads of agencies and schools organize democratic discussions and debates before the collective on monthly, quarterly and annual work programs; implement transparency in finance and assign work to officers and employees in the agency.

Every year, schools hold parent conferences to collect democratic opinions, discuss and reach consensus, and voluntarily contribute to build small projects such as toilets, repair desks and chairs, garages for students, etc.

Thanks to that, in recent years, the movement to promote the internal strength of the entire people has been promoted. In 2010 alone, the whole commune mobilized 750 million VND, 14/17 hamlets completed the construction of cultural institutions, of which 9 hamlets were recognized as meeting the standards, such as: Doc Su hamlet, Hung Cuong 12, Dong Thinh, Tien Phong 2,...

With the above achievements, in 2010, the cadres and people of Ky Son commune were awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the District People's Committee.
