Engineer from coastal area 'raises' hybrid fighting chickens and earns billions
(Baonghean.vn) -After graduating from university and finding a job in the city, Le Van Duong decided to return to his hometown in Quynh Bang commune (Quynh Luu) to raise hybrid fighting chickens.
In 2014, Le Van Duong graduated with a good degree in food technology engineering from Vinh University; he had a job in Vinh city, but the income was low, not commensurate with his professional ability, so Mr. Duong decided to start a new career: returning to his hometown to raise chickens.

Talking, Mr. Duong shared: My father was the one who prevented me from going back to my hometown to raise chickens, because in this coastal countryside, few people go to university, while I am a food technology engineer... But then hearing that I liked it, my father agreed.
At first, Mr. Duong rented machinery to renovate the ground to build a 90m2 coop. Then, he visited chicken farming models in Ninh Binh and Bac Giang. Realizing that the crossbred fighting chicken breed had good resistance and grew quickly, he decided to buy 700 chickens from Binh Dinh to test raise.
Initially, due to lack of experience, the profit was low, about 20 million VND/4 months of raising. However, he continued to buy more chickens to develop the second batch of chickens, and at the same time expanded the barn area to 250 m2. Learning from the experience of the first batch, the next batch of chickens was better cared for, resulting in much higher revenue.
Up to now, his chicken farm has expanded to 600m2 with a flock of 7,000 chickens. On average, crossbred fighting chickens reach the weight of 2.5 - 3 kg/chicken when ready for sale. Each year, Mr. Duong raises 8 batches of chickens, each batch of about 2,000 chickens within 4 months; the annual revenue reaches 1.4 billion VND; after deducting expenses, he earns about 400 million VND/year.
In addition to raising meat chickens, he invested in building an incubator to produce breeding chickens for sale to the market. Mr. Duong's model of raising hybrid fighting chickens has created jobs for 3 workers with a salary of 4 million VND/month/person.

When the livestock products became known to the people and were widely consumed in the market, Mr. Duong continued to promote the products on social networks. Recently, he signed a contract with the Central Company to purchase the output of 20 tons of broiler chickens per month. Having that opportunity, he continued to visit broiler farms in the district to purchase and consume the products.
Sharing about his upcoming plans, Mr. Duong said that he is planning to expand his barns, invest in raising chickens fed with herbs, aiming for a clean, quality chicken farming model, bringing livestock products to supermarkets and large restaurants in and outside the province.
