Another double bombing in Iraq, 45 casualties

Xinhua News Agency on November 27 quoted Iraqi police sources as saying that at least four people were killed and 41 others were injured in two car bomb attacks in the northern city of Kirkuk.

A car bomb exploded in the Rezgari district, near a Kurdish party office, and a second car bomb exploded near a gas station in the Shorja district in central Kirkuk, about 250km north of the capital Baghdad.

The number of casualties in the two explosions could continue to rise as many victims have been taken to several hospitals and medical centers in Kirkuk for emergency treatment.

Kirkuk province is home to many different ethnicities and its capital Kirkuk is a place of frequent conflict between Kurds, Arabs and people of Turkish origin.

Violence and major bomb attacks still occur in some Iraqi cities, although the number of incidents has decreased significantly compared to the peak of violence in 2006-2007, when the country was engulfed in bloody sectarian conflicts./.
