Towing a broken fishing boat and 16 fishermen safely to shore
(Baonghean.vn) - While fishing at sea, the fishing boat of fisherman Tran Van Nguyen, residing in Thanh Cong village, Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) had a broken engine and was drifting at sea for 2 days.
Accordingly, at around 2:00 p.m. on February 20 (the 5th day of Tet), the fishing boat with registration number NA-99979-TS, owned by Mr. Tran Van Nguyen (born in 1980), residing in Thanh Cong hamlet, Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, and 16 fishermen were fishing in the open sea at 18.40 North latitude and 106.31 East longitude when the engine suddenly broke down.
Although the crew on board tried hard to repair the engine, it was unsuccessful so the captain let the ship drift at sea.
Mr. Tran Van Nguyen called the local authorities and functional forces, search and rescue Nghe An to promptly respond.
Upon receiving the news and radio communication from the ship in distress, Nghe An Search and Rescue Center dispatched Nghe An fishing control ship numbered 93969 KN to the rescue.
At around 2:00 a.m. on February 22, the fishing boat in distress was promptly towed to Cua Lo Town port by the search and rescue center.
Currently, the health of the crew members on board has gradually stabilized. Authorities are completing procedures to hand over the boat and property to the fishermen for further repairs to go out to sea.
