Local media reported that the shooting left at least one person dead and three others injured. The incident occurred in the context of shootings and gun control issues that continue to be one of the most pressing issues in American society.

On its Twitter page, local police said the shootings occurred separately in downtown Austin, in the same area, and that security at these locations was guaranteed at the time. Meanwhile, local media reported that at least one woman in her 30s died at the scene, and three others were taken to the nearby Brackenridge University Medical Center.
