Many years ago, the idea of building a farm was formed when he returned to his hometown after being discharged from the army, but at that time due to lack of capital and experience, he could not carry it out.
In the following years, he attended an intermediate accounting class, then graduated and worked many jobs to make a living. “I went to the South to work as a factory worker but my income was low, not enough to cover my living expenses. I thought, if I keep working like this for the rest of my life, I don’t know when my life will improve. So I decided to return to my hometown with the determination to realize my ambition,” said Mr. Tuan.
In 2014, he borrowed 150 million VND from the bank to invest in building a farm on 1 hectare of land auctioned by the locality.
Realizing that the supply of clean food was scarce, he decided to open a farm to raise pigs, chickens, and ducks. Initially, when he first invested in the integrated livestock model, he encountered many difficulties, especially in livestock farming techniques; methods to prevent diseases for livestock as well as finding sources for products.
He traveled to farms in and outside the district to learn about farming techniques and experiences. Thanks to that, the pigs, chickens, and ducks that his family raised grew rapidly, ensuring safe meat quality when it reached consumers.
Taking advantage of the land, in early 2015, Mr. Tuan started investing and renovating the pond to raise various types of fish, combined with the rice-fish model, which helped him and his wife have a fairly stable source of income.
Sharing about the early days of starting a business, Mr. Tuan said: "The initial capital was too little, my family had to mortgage the red book to borrow from the bank, then borrow more from relatives and friends. Looking at the land area received, mainly ponds, weeds, we had to rent an excavator and mobilize the labor of family members to improve the land."
After earning hundreds of millions of dong, Mr. Tuan continued to reinvest in expanding the farm and opening an animal feed dealership. Thanks to that, his family's life became increasingly prosperous.
