Coincidentally, the two short film contests for students “” and “Creating advertising films Tvcreate” both touch on many social issues but do not forget to convey the message of love and sharing with the community. There, you can freely create and express your thoughts on each social story from the perspective of a student.

Love film

A group of students from Hung Yen University of Technical Education sent to “SV online 2012” the work Mother’s Diary. The story tells about the immense love of a mother who sacrificed and gave all her best things to her son in the hope that he would succeed in school. However, the temptations of a free life away from home, the invitations of friends, the student forgot everything, used the living expenses his mother sent him each month to gamble and play all night. Only when his mother became seriously ill did the young man wake up. That story is not too new but is still very real in the lives of many students away from home in big cities today.

Among the more than 40 entries, many film scripts were based on true stories. The work Connecting the Heart tells the story of a poor candidate cycling more than 100km to the exam venue. Not having enough money for accommodation, he had to sleep on the street and eat the banh tet he brought with him. Then he met the volunteers and was supported with free accommodation. The story of the film goes along with the message that the authors, who are students at the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City, sent: "Don't be too insensitive, cold, and turn away from difficult situations, but open your heart to them."

Each film in the competition brings a different story but they all meet in the message of love that the authors want to convey. Works such as: Wings of Dreams (Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics), Laughing Hearts (Ho Chi Minh City University of Law), Awakening (Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy), Nurturing (Kien Giang Pedagogical College)... all aim at a beautiful lifestyle, love and sharing with the community, the spirit of overcoming difficulties and rising up. Although still very amateur, those films gently convey lessons about maternal love, the attitude of young people towards violence - school crimes, social evils, environmental problems, medical ethics... both serious but also very humorous, witty, true to the student style.

Life message

Another contest called “Creative advertising film TvCreate” organized by Hoa Sen University has just ended and attracted more than 50 entries from students nationwide. The theme “Building miracles” has created an opportunity for students to express their thoughts and concerns about life. Among them, children are the subject that many filmmaking groups have exploited.

Raising Children by Duong Huynh (Hoa Sen University) is about a girl who is always bullied by her friends in class, scolded by her teachers, and always has to witness her parents' quarrels at home. Her parents do not care, and the resentment gradually accumulates in the little student day after day. In the end, the girl commits suicide by taking sleeping pills. "Saving children by listening, sharing, and confiding in them is the greatest wish I want to convey to everyone through this video" - Duong Huynh confided.

Sharing the same message, the YNS&T group including Hanh Uyen, Hoang Trieu, Thanh Truc, Thuy Ha, Quynh Anh with the work Protecting Children also sent to the contest a call for the community's love for children, creating conditions for children to go to school, play, and live in a loving and caring family environment. "The things I show in the film are all things I have observed from my daily life and want to convey them to the community, hoping to contribute, even if only a small part, to changing the awareness and actions of each person", Duong Huynh shared.

Traffic safety, environmental pollution, social violence, homosexuality, cohabitation... are also conveyed frankly and boldly by student authors through each work. "Although it is a competition for making advertising films, most of the entries have content that addresses many hot issues in society and are conveyed with humanity rather than focusing on purely commercial factors. That shows the students' valuable community spirit," commented Master Hoang Duc Binh - a member of the jury.

Students are free to be creative.

The “Tvcreate Advertising Film Creation” contest organized by Hoa Sen University with the theme “Building Miracles” has ended with more than 50 entries from students nationwide. The film “Protecting Children” by the YNS&T group (Hoa Sen University) was awarded first prize.

Meanwhile, the “SV online 2012” contest organized by Vietnam Television in collaboration with the social network Zing Me, also for students nationwide, will continue to accept entries until December 23. There are currently 44 student films in various forms: pantomime, comedy, short films, musicals... submitted to compete for prizes with a total value of more than 1.5 billion VND.
