Every year, hundreds of foreign vessels come to Quynh Phuong beach to do business and take shelter from storms. The security situation at sea is complicated. Over the past 4 years, there have been dozens of Chinese fishing boats violating our maritime sovereignty and fishing disputes in our waters, causing disorder in our territorial waters.

In that situation, officers and soldiers of Border Guard Station 144 are always proactive in grasping the situation at sea, synchronously deploying border professional measures. Talking to us, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Long - Political Commissar, said: Every year, we have deployed 4 propaganda campaigns and disseminated 161 regulations at sea, trained 100 - 150 crew members on methods to respond when there are disputes, and also informed fishermen about the situation of the sea and islands so that they can be proactive. There have been no unfortunate incidents of encroachment on territorial waters yet.

Preventing crimes of transporting and trading explosives, electric shocks and electric shocks is a very difficult and arduous task for the border guards. The activities of trading, transporting and storing explosives are becoming more and more complicated. One case has been prosecuted, one subject with 10kg of explosives, 2 cases have been administratively handled with 1.6kg of explosives. The situation of catching seafood by electric shocks is becoming more and more sophisticated, but the soldiers of Quynh Phuong border guard station have discovered and arrested 8 cases with 31 vehicles and 80 crew members.

The work of controlling, investigating and arresting this type of subject is extremely difficult and complicated. The subject often has people following them at checkpoints to promptly disperse when discovered. Using professional methods, officers and soldiers of Border Guard Station 144 have successfully captured many cases. Lieutenant Colonel Long said: “To do a good job of preventing crimes of illegal storage and use of explosives, we had to send our brothers to lie in wait on sea routes to propagate and grasp the psychology of the crew. Through the work of controlling and fighting crime, we have discovered very sophisticated tricks of this type of crime such as they can put TNT explosives in earthenware jars and wrap them in many layers of nylon and hide them between ice packs. The border guards let their brothers infiltrate and go fishing far from shore with the crew to be able to detect and catch them red-handed. It is known that in places where explosives are used, shrimp and fish almost cannot reproduce.

Border guards here are also the core force for rescue work at sea. Recently, Border Guard Station 144 has rescued 18 fishing boats from various places drifting into Quynh Phuong sea area, rescued 10 Chinese people drifting at sea, and promptly saved a child who drowned on Quynh Phuong beach last October.

Officers and soldiers of Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station have coordinated well with the Party Committees and authorities of 04 coastal border communes to implement the emulation movement "All people participate in protecting sovereignty and security and order at sea". Synchronously deploying border professional measures, organizing the construction of a network to consolidate 16 security and order teams in hamlets, 10 self-managed security teams on offshore fishing vessels, and common fishing areas of fishermen to serve the work of grasping the situation. In addition, officers and soldiers of Border Guard Station 144 have also proactively done a good job of propaganda and mobilization for people in managing and protecting the coastal border.
