First large-scale exhibition on "Land Reform 1946-1957"

The thematic exhibition "Land reform 1946-1957" officially opened on the morning of September 8 at the National Museum of History, Hanoi.

In this exhibition, the National Museum of History introduces to the public nearly 150 artifacts, original documents, historical photos on land reform that are being kept at the National Museum of History and archives, museums in Hanoi and localities such as the Central Party Office Archives, Government Office, National Assembly Office, National Archives Center I, II, III, Ho Chi Minh Museum and museums of Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh provinces...

These documents and artifacts are very rare, contain many historical values ​​and are being displayed and introduced to the public for the first time within the framework of a large-scale thematic exhibition.

The special exhibition “Land Reform 1946-1957” consists of two parts. The first part focuses on the situation of “Rural Vietnam before Land Reform”. In this part, the Museum displays a number of images, figures, statistical tables... to clarify the existence of four main land ownership regimes in Vietnam, which are land of the feudal landlord class; French colonial capitalists; public land and peasant land.

Next is the display of documentary images and artifacts of the daily life of landlords in the Northern Delta provinces. These include documents and original documents such as land registers, tax books... of landlords; in contrast to the lavish life of landlords is the life of extreme poverty and hunger of farmers shown through a number of artifacts and utensils such as cotton shirts, double-breasted shirts, lime plows, and personal tax cards.

In the main section on "Land Reform 1946-1957," the exhibits and documents on display are divided into four specific contents. One section clearly states the Party and Government's policies on land reform through displaying many documentary photos of the conferences of the Party Central Committee, the Government Council, the National Assembly, etc.; documents such as laws, decrees, ordinances, decrees, instructions, circulars, reports, books, and propaganda documents on land reform.

The section on land reform from 1953-1956 introduces a number of historical documentary photos, a number of summary reports, statistics, newsletters, bulletins... about the process and results of the reform implementation.

The section "Mistakes and corrections" introduces some historical documentary photos, resolutions, circulars, directives, official dispatches of the Party, and reports on the results of corrections of some localities.

The content "Successful completion" is clarified through documentary photos of the achievements and results that Vietnamese farmers have had after land reform; some of the farmers' daily necessities; groups of badges, award flags, land ownership certificates that farmers were granted after the reform...

The thematic exhibition "Land Reform 1946-1957" will run until the end of 2014.
